Excursion to the Barranco del Infierno in Adeje – A Symphony of Rock, Sky, and Water

Under the southern sun of Tenerife unfolds the Barranco del Infierno, a path that seems to have been carved by titans, steeped in history and shrouded in mystery.

Its name, evoking its wild and rugged nature, is a testament to its majesty, like a challenge to the sky.

To do the tour you must make a reservation. You can do it on the website barrancodelinfierno.es.

Here is the video I made for you to watch in a minute:

Tour of Adeje + Barranco del Infierno (Hell’s Ravine)

This tour combines a hiking experience through the Barranco del Infierno ravine with a visit to the emblematic town of Adeje, where you can discover its architectural heritage and taste the delicious Canarian gastronomy.

The route lasts between 6 and 8 hours and includes pick-up from hotels in the south of Tenerife, the Santa Cruz area and Puerto de la Cruz.

During the walk through the ravine, you can appreciate the peculiarities of the local flora and fauna and you will reach an impressive waterfall.

Afterwards, you walk through the town of Adeje and visit places such as the convent of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y San Pablo and the church of Santa Úrsula.

You can also try Adeje’s star dish, pollo frito al ajillo (fried chicken with garlic), in a local restaurant.

The experience of hiking in the Barranco del Infierno…

The trail invites you to step inside, to begin a journey from a natural balcony 350 metres above sea level, a heavenly platform from which you can glimpse the splendour of the south of the island. From here, adventure beckons, with the murmur of the breezes and the whisper of the ravine that seems to say: “Come, explore”.

The journey takes approximately three and a half hours, a tale written in the language of the earth and the wind. With each step you take along its 6,500-metre path, the story of the Barranco del Infierno reveals itself, showing you its secrets, its curves and its crevices, each one a poem carved into the rock.

The trail challenges you, with its slippery and rocky terrain. But I assure you, it’s worth the effort. Be sure to wear proper footwear, and let your feet guide you, step by step, through this earthly paradise.

Every blade of grass, every rock, every bend in the road, seems to be inhabited by one of the 456 species that call this place home. Here, in this protected paradise, nature takes its course, indifferent to the passage of time.

So, adventurer, I invite you to explore the Barranco del Infierno. Come, feel the call of the trail, listen to the whisper of the earth and let yourself be carried away by the song of the wind. Unforgettable views and an experience that will be etched in your heart forever await you.
